July 13 -Day 29

Thank you all for praying for Dean's complete healing and persevering in prayer! Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. -James 5:11

I read Dean the messages many of you post on this website! I'm grateful for the words of encouragement, cards, generosity, and acts of kindness many have shown to our family! It encourages my soul especially when the waves seem very high and come crashing down. There are days when I am standing, days when I am resting, and days when I am clinging onto the promises of God! Today has been one of clinging as the Psalmist expresses my heart so well: "Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I." -Psalm 61:1,2  The Lord is my Rock and my Salvation; my God in whom I trust!

Dean breathed on his own using the trach collar for 30 hours since yesterday morning! However, this morning I noticed him more exhausted especially during his therapy session. He had an elevated heart rate throughout last night and during the day along with a fever. At 2 pm, the doctor gave orders to put him back on the ventilator for the remainder of the day and for the night in order to give his lungs a rest. Dean still has a strong cough but the x-ray revealed that he had some mucus build-up in his left lung. Continue to pray for strength as his body has gone through much trauma and weakened. They put him on a general antibiotic and gave him some Tylenol for his fever until they get his test results back. He is resting calmly now. The goal is to wean Dean off the ventilator before he is transferred to an acute rehab. Our family has been busy visiting various rehabs to find the best level of care for Dean. We continue to ask God for miracles everyday and we thank him for giving us hope each day!
