September 12 -Day 90

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. -Isaiah 61:2-4

Today was a difficult day. Dean has lost a significant amount of weight. Good communication is crucial in all aspects of life. Dean has suffered a lack of care due to poor communication over the past 90 days. I long for justice, integrity, and love; qualities that seem to be largely absent in our nation. I always want to share my heart with you all but now I just ask for your continued prayers. I remember the piercing words upon my wounded heart from a nurse in ICU months ago, “Dean will never be the same person again.” Well, she was right and neither will I. The simple truth is: Life experiences change us all. I did not have a traumatic brain injury but even so my world was shattered just like Dean’s face shield upon that rock. We either let circumstances in life destroy or build our character. Dean took this snapshot of two trees in a field and I would have to agree that two are better than one. It is even more beautiful when the two become one and their branches intertwine and become inseparable. One summer evening, he pointed out a tree and said, "this tree shows great strength and character standing tall in the middle of a field rather hidden deep in a forest." He was looking for that tree because he knew it was one weathered by the storms of life yet proven to be deeply rooted in a firm foundation.

Blessed is the man that walk not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of theLord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. -Psalm 1:1-6

"Life is not lost by dying; life is lost minute by minute, day by dragging day, in all the thousand small uncaring ways."    -Stephen Vincent Benét
