July 25 - Day 41

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. -Psalm 27:13-14

Dean had a quiet and restful day. The doctors narrowed it down to one antibiotic to treat the bacteria growth in his lungs along with breathing treatments. His fever continues to fluctuate between 100 and 103. The heart rate medicine has helped in keeping his heart rate lower. In the evening, the nurses lifted him into a reclining chair where he sat calmly for 3 1/2 hours. Dean appreciates classical music and we enjoyed going to many concerts together! He was always surprising me by his thoughtfulness but today there was a surprise for him! The day after his accident, Dean and I had planned to attend a concert performed by our friends in Maryland. The Borowsky family was kind enough to bring their concert to us this evening! The cello sang sweet melodies to Dean and he started to wiggle his toes and move his feet again as Amazing Grace filled the room! It has been about 4 days since he last moved his feet like that; the fever and infection took a lot of energy from him. We rejoice in the Lord to see life being restored to Dean and I long for the day we can go home together! God is faithful and we must patiently wait as we trust Him!

Tonight Dean opened his right eye a third to almost half of the way so I thought he might like to watch our wedding ceremony. I don't know what or if he can see yet but I hope he can hear our vows and remember that beautiful day!

A poem from our devotional Streams in the Desert:
I do not ask my cross to understand,
My way to see-
Better in darkness just to feel Your hand,
And follow thee.
