August 3 - Day 50

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like me, be strong. -1 Corinthians 16:13 Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee withersover thou goest. -Joshua 1:9

We have met a great team of doctors who are capable and ready to take action!

Meanwhile I have some immediate prayer requests:

  • Dean has several areas that are high risk for infection such as foley catheter, trach, lungs, and open sores. Especially in his lungs due to his recent aspiration, consolidation and atelectasis; they have taken sputum samples for culture growth last night. He is currently on a few antibiotics.
  • The tentative date for his intensive brain and facial surgery is around noon on August 8. However, he must be medically cleared to undergo this 12 hour or longer surgery. There are a tremendous amount of risks involved with this procedure, therefore the rest of his body must be as stable as possible. That means he cannot have pneumonia again or any serious infection.
  • Pray that the nurses would be extremely attentive to Dean's needs during this critical time even though he is in a step-down unit.

God is the greatest Physician and He created Dean so I am pleading before Almighty God for Dean's complete healing!

I want to thank each of you for praying! Keep asking, keep believing, and keep trusting with all your heart no matter what circumstances we face or how difficult this journey becomes!

The Lord continues to strengthen my soul even through a poem from our devotional, Streams in the Desert:

Be strong!
We are not here to play, to dream, to drift;
We have hard work to do, and loads to lift.
Shun not the struggle; face it.
It's God's gift.

Be strong!
Say not the days are evil -Who's to blame?
Or fold your hands, as in defeat -O shame!
Stand up, speak out, and bravely,
In God's name.

Be strong!
It matters not how deep entrenched the wrong,
How hard the battle goes, the day how long,
Faint not, fight on!
Tomorrow comes the song.
